There are many things you can do to help your dog avoid getting IVDD.  Avoiding these things can help your dog maintain a healthy back:

1. Jumping onto/down from high surfaces

2. Going up and down large steps

3. Running at top speeds frequently

4. Playing tug-of-war

1. Using a ramp so your dog can easily get onto higher surfaces

2. Managing your dogs weight to avoid back/neck stress

3. Using a harness to walk your dog to alleviate stress on the back and neck
